10 Black Travelers You NEED To Follow

When you google image search “digital nomads”, “travel bloggers”, and “travel influencers”, you tend to see the same photos of white men and women smiling in the camera while the background is a grand cultural site or a vast beach and mountain view. If you are not in these circles already, you rarely see Black people thriving abroad as ex-pats, digital nomads, van-lifers, and more. But WE ARE THRIVING ABROAD! I wanted to share some of my favorite black folks shifting the travel culture and looking good doing it! Here are 10 Black Travelers you NEED to follow.

  1. Stephanie Perry of Vaycarious

Stephanie Perry is a house sitter, travel coach, and creator of vaycarious.com. Perry’s story started when she quit her job and took a year’s sabbatical to travel the world. Now, she teaches women how to do the same through housesitting, sabbatical/expat planning, and much more.

She and fellow traveler, Roshida D, created the Exodus Summit, a sabbatical summit for black women ready to do long term travel abroad.

2. Roshida D of Shidad

Roshida D. is a career break coach who supports people who want to ditch the job status quo and burnout for freedom and travel. She is a founding member of the Black Travel Alliance, “a professional non-profit organization, created in 2020 to encourage, educate, equip and excel black travel professionals in education, media, and corporate positions” (BlackTravelAlliance.com).

Roshida D. is also the creator of From Burnout to Bliss, a course to help people break free from their tiresome work lives and travel/move abroad in under a year.

3. Wanda Duncan of Black Women Travel Podcast

Wanda Duncan is the podcaster of the Black Women Travel Podcast, where she and her guests share intimate stories about their travel experiences. She is also the creator of the Black Women Digital Nomad Entrepreneurs, a Facebook group where Black women can network and gain resources to travel and build online businesses. In 2020, she created the International Black Women Jubilee, a conference for Black Women Travelers.

4. Craig Kingston of The Cheap God

Craig Kingston aka The Cheap God is a nomad who documents his healthy lifestyle, delicious meals, and travel experiences on YouTube and Instagram. He was one of the first people I saw discuss traveling and mental health in 2019 with his Travel Noire feature “Leaving America Saved My Life”. Check out Kingston on IG @thecheapgod and YouTube.

5. Annette of From Annette With Love

Annette is a digital nomad, plus-size fashion influencer, and travel blogger of From Annette With Love. She also is the creator of Fat Girls Traveling, a fat-positive movement “dedicated to telling fat stories, highlighting fat bodies, and changing the landscape of travel, fashion and lifestyle brands” (fatgirlstraveling.com). Out of Fat Girls Traveling, she has also created The Fat Girls Guide Blog and Fat Girls Traveling presents Fat Camp.

6. Nubia Y. of I Am Nubia Younge

Nubia Y. has many roles. She is a world traveler, international speaker, and co-host of the Chronicles Abroad podcast. Her mission is to “My mission is to continue to inspire Gen X professionals to build a life they deserve, find their purpose and create their own reality unapologetically” (instagram.com/iamnubiayounge).

She is also the Founder and CEO of Black in Tulum, “the FIRST and ONLY community where Black & Brown travelers come together and vibe where the jungle meets the sea” (instagram.com/blackintulum).

7. Ralph Clesca

Ralph Clesca is an expat currently living in DaNang Vietnam. On his YouTube channel, he shares his experiences living in DaNang as well as gives tips for Vietnam travel, teaching abroad, and more.

8. Ebonee of Ebonee Travels

Ebonee is a travel blogger, website tech expert, and entrepreneur. She teaches millennial women how they can utilize their skills to create a successful online business and thrive anywhere around the world. She splits her time between Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and Williamsburg, Virginia.

9. Ebun of The HeartStylist

Ebun is an experience curator and nomad currently traveling the globe. The curator documents her journey on her youtube channel through vlogging as well as giving lifestyle and business content. Her Instagram is lively with colorful photos and videos highlighting the joys of travel.

10. Antoinette Yvonne

Antoinette Yvonne is a solo female traveler and content creator who documents her lifestyle as she explores the world in her luxurious van. She vlogs her experiences and shares great resources on her YouTube channel. Her mission is to inspire others to pursue their passions and educate them on traveling with a purpose. She is also the Founder of Globally Abroad, a travel company dedicated to “transforming the lives of minority teens & young adults into global citizens by way of international travel” (instagram.com/globallyabroad).
